In collaboration with the Seagull India Arts Foundation, Venkat Bothsa’s inaugural Canadian exhibition, “Steeped in Sanskriti” runs from August 13 - September 30, 2009

Artist Statement:

“My works are neither statements, nor expressions, of a particular though. They are simply the reflections of what I am witnessing.

On the one side, ecological balances are deteriorating. Some are worried and are trying to educate themselves and warn the world of this impending catastrophe. Yet still, every day another species faces extinction.

On the other side, in the name of development, a new material culture is being invented every minute. Inventions are welcomed whether they are threat to the environment or not.

Some say life is simple; live simply by looking at nature. Some argue the more you have the more civilized you are. Some say the world is going to end. Some say this is the beginning.

I am witnessing both divergent statements.”
